Героические поступки персонажей способствуют их исцелению от детских травм. И героизм, и альтруизм связаны с улучшением психического и физического здоровья и функционирования личности. Подобное поведение приносит положительные эмоции, увеличивает продолжительность жизни, защищает от выгорания, повышает выносливость, усиливает осмысленность жизни (что само по себе способствует излечению от ПТСР) и, кроме прочего, повышает самоэффективность457. Одно из возможных объяснений этого явления состоит в том, что оказание помощи другим улучшает настроение человека, гармонизирует его нервную систему и даже повышает иммунитет458. Героизм исцеляет

Джон, Бриенна, Бран и Пес перенесли тяжелые эмоциональные или физические травмы в детстве. Тем не менее они сумели не только восстановиться, но и стать героями, мужественно встретившись лицом к лицу со своими страхами и отстаивая свои убеждения. Противодействие несправедливости, проявление доброты и раскрытие своего творческого или духовного потенциала — все это способно улучшить физическое и психическое здоровье человека. Кроме того, благородные и героические поступки могут повысить продолжительность жизни человека и даже улучшить ее качество в целом.
